What happens when the Guardian falls in love with his charge…and then they meet?

Plot: Here we have what seems to be a parallel Earth. In fact, it could almost be mistaken for our own. The people living there wouldn’t tell you there was any difference between the two. They would have seen us as long-lost relatives. There is a secret the humans of this planet don’t know yet. There is another race that lives among them, a race that has always guarded them from harm using their small powers. They live in a separate realm, invisible to the humanity’s eyes. The laws of their society, called the laws of ‘Haven’, rule them. Every time an ‘Angel’ turns 22, s/he is assigned to watch over for the rest of their lives one of the humans who has turned 18 that same year. When this Guardian Angel was assigned his charge he never expected it to be any more than routine. The girl looked harmless enough after all, what trouble could she get into? Little did he know. For the girl always had her nose in books and was constantly almost walking into danger. Normally the angel could keep her out of harm’s way by using his small powers to avert danger ahead of time. Over the year they were together the angel grew to love the girl, and kept it hidden from the rest of his race, for it was forbidden to do so, much as it is forbidden to cross into their realm when they can see you. They one day he takes his eyes off of her only for a moment. When he turns back he is horrified to see that she has wandered across a street with her nose in her book and is inches away from being struck by a car. He has no choice but to cross into her realm and drag her to the snowy ground with him out of harms way. And so he find himself in the ground with the girl he loves in his arms, and her book splayed in the snow next to her umbrella, her looking at him rather bewildered. Of course, when the angel’s cross into the human realm they have one small problem. The one they are assigned to guard for life can see their wings, though they appear immaterial. How will she react? And will he be able to let her go if she doesn’t push him away? His is a love forbidden by the laws of ‘Have
n’ but will his heart override what his mind tells him?
